MINDFULNESS, MEDITATION & MIND-BODY AWARENESS

Dreaming the future, now.

Hello Friend,

It's been a tough year. We've weathered storms that are still storming. We've pivoted our lives, and are still pivoting. We've felt and known challenges in ways that we haven't before.

Challenges will continue. We can do hard things. It hasn't been easy. We're doing a remarkable job.  YOU'RE doing a remarkable job. You are.

A big shout out to our teachers and health care workers, who have charted courses unknown during the pandemic, supporting their students / patients in new and innovative ways. In caring, generous and humane ways. A deep bow to you.

A huge nod to parents supporting their kids while not knowing what is best. Bravo!

To all the front line workers: the restaurant staff, supermarket check-out folks, and all who have kept our ordinary structures functioning, we thank you. We are grateful for your service.

This morning, a friend reminded me of the potential, the great potential that awaits us. The potential for peace. Joy. Generosity. Love. Connection. Ease. She reminded me that that potential isn't waiting for us on the other side of the pandemic whenever it comes to an end. It is here now, and we can enter into it  deliberately, together.

We can aspire for better, now. We can dream.

We can dream big. We can imagine a future for ourselves, the exact future that is in your mind's eye. We can imagine greatness for our loved ones. We can envision a future for our country, for our world, that is of benefit to all beings. We can do that now.

Dreaming is a generative practice. It generates positive qualities that we can feel now, in our bodies. Dreaming generates feel-good energy. Dreaming allows us to feel into future scenarios that are possible. Dreaming supports us to be open to possibilities. It allows us to see what filters our perceptions and to open up to more.

Where attention goes, energy flows.

Dreaming is how our democracy was founded. Dreaming is how our democracy will continue.

Dreaming is medicine. A salve for the soul.

During the month of December I will be practicing dreaming fully and deliberately. To feel the feel-good dream energy that is generated. To allow that energy to move in through the body. To encourage the dream-related thoughts and images to take up room in my mind. I will experiment with dreaming, maybe dreaming big, perhaps bigger than I ever have.

I invite you to join me.

What will you allow yourself to dream?

Dreaming along with you,

Mara
